Forbidden symbol

During Greece - Estonia game which was played last weekend at the UEFA Nations league, home fans are accused of displaying banned symbol. This Tuesday, the Greek prosecutor, after the complaint filed by the sports minister Giorgos Vassiliadis, is examining a Nazi sign on the stands. Beside racist violence together with the symbol, a small group of spectators (hooligans) at the Olympic stadium also burned a Turkish flag.

'The video technology is not so bad after all'

In England the video assistant referee technology was in doubt installing on its games. But seeing how this works plus its accuracy quickly changed the minds of all Premier league clubs, who last Thursday unanimously vote in favor of the video system. Hence from next season we are going to see television near the pitch who is going to help referees in the decision making, after the whole thing was called 'comical and shameful' in early 2018.

Nominees for Asian best player

On 10 November Kashima Antlers have won an first ever title of the Asian Champions league. And to celebrate even further two of its players from the Japanese victory team, are candidates for the best footballer in Asia.
Midfielder Kento Misao and his teammate, striker Yuma Suzuki are on the shortlist of three players competing for the prize. Apart from these two, this Monday the confederation has also named the defender Abdelkarim Hassan, who plays for Qatar club Al Sadd, for the race. Over to the female side Samantha Kerr from Australia is searching for the second consecutive award. Her opponents are Saki Kumagai (Japan) and Wang Shuang (PR China) who will try to prevent that.

World Cup countdown

Exactly today, the football world is setting the countdown clock for the biggest sporting event on earth: the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. For the first time this event will not be held in the summer period, plus also for the first time one Arab nation will host the best 32 teams in 4 years time. The first winter competition is going to start on 21 November while the final will be played 18 December, on the National day of the country. For 28 days (and nights), the twenty second edition is going to be played on 8 stadiums, which most of them are under construction and have to end by 2020. However, there is one interesting fact: these venues are going to be so close to each other (around 50 kilometers), so that spectators can attend more matches in one day. The qualifying draw have to take place in July 2019.
