Man in a garbage can

The above title may seem that some homeless person is digging inside the trash, but is actually a football official who was forcefully put there on an incident that happened in Ukraine four days ago.
Oleksandr Ovcharenko is a new appointed director of Desna when he (immediately) announced that is planning to build an Olympic stadium on the same place where the first division club is playing since 2008. Just what this idea have meant to the loyal fans can be watched in the following video/s by giving him a direct answer.

President removed from office for a long, long...long time

It looks like football does not have any luck with presidents. Nicolas Leoz, Austin (or for wide public Jack) Warner, Michel Platini, Sepp Blatter, or in short the first 3 were bosses of their own confederations (South American, North American and the Caribbean plus the European), while the last one led the world football association and all these names were removed from this sport. To refresh this list is added the current president of the African confederation Ahmad Ahmad.
It became very suspicious, because he was locked up in the French capital Paris at 2019, while this Monday it was only confirmed, by the world football affiliation, that the 60-year-old from Madagascar can not resume his leadership in the next five years plus had to deliver 200.000 Swiss francs (185.099 euros) financial fine. And the accusations are very serious: bribery, corruption and malversation with funds to his gain. Expelled from the sport, this is definitely a huge blow for him as was planning to run and win for a new term in March 2021. Until then the whole thing will take in the Court of arbitration for sport and trying at least to prove his innocence (like the above four).

Big player of all time is no longer with us

The most talented and legendary great footballer of all time Diego Armando Maradona has passed away today from a heart attack in Buenos Aires. On the pitch he was known for his excellent dribbling skills and free kicks, that won numerous awards during the 21-year-old playing career. After that he decided to try into the coaching business at United Arab Emirates, Mexico and his native Argentina where his last post was in Gimnasia de La Plata.
Off the football terrain the 60-year-old have led a terrible life. Using drugs and lots of alcohol, was many times seeing in hospital, and because of this had cardiovascular and liver problems. Recovering from brain surgery at the beginning of this month, was released home whither later he unfortunately died on 25 November in Tigre.
In the following three days it will be a state of mourning in the country (Argentina), while Napoli is going to rename its stadium San Paolo as to honor him of leaving a deep trace and good memories at the Italian club.

Known from where the teams will come out

With the completion of the main part in Nations league last Wednesday the four finalists are known, who is going up and who is going down (although two more duels have to be staged). Apart from that, another thing which became familiar, are the seeds for the World Cup qualifying tournament who is going to start next year. But before that, groups have to be made on 07 December in Zurich (Switzerland) where the 55 teams will be drawn from the following six bowls:

Pot 1: Belgium, France, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands.

Pot 2: Switzerland, Poland, Sweden, Wales, Austria, Ukraine, Tukey, Serbia, Slovakia, Romania.

Pot 3: Russia, Republic of Ireland, Norway, Hungary, Czech Republic, Scotland, Iceland, Northern Ireland, Finland, Greece.

Pot 4: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Israel, Georgia, Luxembourg.

Pot 5: Armenia, Cyprus, Faroe islands, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Latvia, Andorra.

Pot 6: Moldova, Malta, Liechtenstein, Gibraltar, San Marino.

On the European continent 10 groups are going to be formed. Those teams who likes to qualify directly into the 2022 finals will have to be first, while the runners-up would have to (torture themselves a little bit more and) play additional elimination matches which will be mixed with the best two teams from the Nations league. For this World Cup qualifying event everything has to start at the end of March 2021, and one year later is expected to finish this saga.

Month of double seeing each other: returning the hospitality

After the international teams action, we slowly came to the second part of the group phases in both European leagues (Cups) competitions. The calendar was like that that this month we are going to see only two rounds from both, which are similar to each other, where the most interesting piece is that all 40 pairs will meet again, but there is just one (small) catch: change of hospitality. Round three was played at the beginning of this month, while teams from round four are going to have the same rivals but in reverse order (or in simple language: the guests from two weeks ago will be the hosts). Kick off times remains the same together with the nights and matches, whilst pairings for both competitions are not going to be equal.

Debut agreement at one East Asian nation reached

For the first time ever, television viewers in Mongolia will watch top football major club and team competitions from the Asian continent. This historic deal was brought on 12 November thanks to the local information technology company Unitel who signed the contract with the Football marketing Asia agency to show various competitions from 2021 until 2024 on their channel UniLive and the digital service station Look television. As in every three years deal package, the extensive coverage will be more focused primarily on the Mongolian clubs playing at the continental Champions league and AFC Cup together with team level, where the country currently participates at the qualifiers for the World Cup 2022. Besides that, international matches will be shown as well, plus the Asian Cup 2023 together with the under 23 category finals in 2022 and 2024 from the same event.

21 November 2020

Host found to stage club finals

With adapting to a new format and with 90 minutes game only, the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions league final 8 will be played in Orlando next month. On 10 November Exploria stadium has been designated to be a host to the teams in the closing stages (from quarterfinals onwards). These seven duels are going to be staged from 15 as far as 22 December (where the winner will earn the right to represent the North American continent at the Club World Cup tournament in Qatar from 01 until 11 February 2021).

20 November 2020

Accepted new dates for resuming football events

Because of the well-known health problem around the world, elimination games that were scheduled for 2020 on a team and one from the club level were forced to be rescheduled and had to find next new available dates.
As December 2022 is (rapidly) approaching, it is very difficult to find affordable space due to the tight schedule, but at the end everything was accepted. This is the year when the first ever winter World Cup will be staged in Qatar, and on 11 November the Asian region has revealed when qualifying will resume. From the second phase it was remained to be played four more rounds, or divided by two each one are going to be held in March and June 2021. Last and phase number three from the same competition will begin in September. And to go (little bit) further beyond the inter-continental play offs should all be completed until May and June 2022. However, there is one trick: instead of two, only one match is going to decide the traveler for the finals.
Because these are also counting as elimination duels for the Asian Cup event at 2023 as well, it was determined that final stage (round three) with all 10 rounds have to be finished as far as March 2022.
Staying on the same continent and country, this Tuesday it was decided that the Club World Cup which was scheduled to be staged in December 2020 will be played from 01 until 11 February next year. Under the current situation it is impossible to schedule this event in 2020 knowing that three representatives are known (Europe and Oceania plus the host club Al-Duhail), while the other four are missing (Champions league winners from Africa, Asia, North America and the Caribbean together with South America).
In conclusion this only means that the plans for the expanded Club World Cup in June and July 2021 has been brought down. Three official tournaments (two of them have been moved for 2021: European championship and Copa America) plus the Gold Cup next year has prevented this (stupid) idea to make it happen.
