On the very first night of next month begins the Champions league group phase, part number two. Wonder kid got second nationality

With just 10 years of age Anssumane Fati was admitted into the La Masia youth academy of Barcelona. Shortened for Ansu Fati, six years later he became the youngest ever goal scorer for the club with 16 years and 304 days (shaken the net versus Osasuna). Everyone predicts a bright future for him, thus this wonder kid last Friday received a Spanish citizenship. However, he also broke another record: this footballer who was born in Guinea-Bissau, is also the youngest ever which competed in the Champions league playing against Borussia Dortmund past Tuesday.

Introduced new league name instead of a provisional one

Starting from 2021-22 the European continent is going to have three official club tournaments: the two that we know of nowadays plus a new one...or an old one which was introduced last December.
From Europa league 2 this competition from Tuesday has a new name: an UEFA Conference league. This event will be third in significance after the Champions and Europa league. Since that is the way, here are going to play teams from lower countries. Eight groups with four teams, so the model is exactly the same as the Champions league, with the only difference that we will have qualifying matches before the round of 16: the third placed teams in the groups from Europa are going to play against the second placed clubs from Conference (this is still confusing since Europa has more groups than the Conference). Of course the winner of the league which debuts in two years time is going one place higher - at the Europa league. Matches from this event are going to be played on Thursdays (in exact times colliding with the second competition).
An (main) idea is to reduce the clubs participating at Europa league from 48 to 32.

Parts of final tournament now known

On the last month of each year an intercontinental event is staged only to find out which club is playing the best football or otherwise this is known by the name of Club World Cup. Six regional champions plus the winning team of the home national championship will gather in Qatar from 11 until 22 December, and from last Monday the schedule is now known...well partly.
The sixteenth edition are going to open Al-Sadd (champions of the Qatar stars league) and Hienghene sport (Champions league winner from Oceania). Whoever wins this duel will meet Monterrey (North American and Caribbean champion) in the first quarterfinal, while in the second winners from the Asian confederation (which is yet to be determined) is going to play with Esperance sportive de Tunis (African champions). At both semifinal matches two new clubs will be introduced for the first time in the tournament: the European Champions league winner Liverpool (who is going to meet either Al-Sadd / Hienghene sport - Monterrey) plus the South American counterpart, which is going to be known in November (and their rival might be Asian or African champions).

Blackmail does not pay off

Let us blackmail our beloved club so that they can give us free tickets which later we are going to sell them on the black market, and of course, all the money are ours. Its pure profit without any single drop of sweat, so why we did not think of this earlier? And for the extortion part this is the plan: we are going to (deliberately) provoke big disturbances on matches, fight, sing racist chants plus put forbidden banners, so the team has no other option but to grant our 'kind request'.
This is not a plot from an action / romance movie, although it may look like it with a terrible ending. Knowing for their violent background and racist behavior, 12 hardcore leaders of supporting groups were arrested by the Italian police last Monday. Drughi, Tradizioni-Antichi valori, Viking, Nucleo 1985 are some of the Ultras bosses imprisoned who are cheering for Juventus. And now comes the above word - romance (officers versus fans): after a year long investigation, the police have locked down 25 more people for this 'genius idea', thus all 37 are accused of threats, demanding ransom, money laundering and violence. Officers had 39 search warrants at 14 cities throughout the country.

Future finals of European Cups tournaments

Today at the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, the European football organization has decided where the final duels are going to be played at two seasonal competitions plus one yearly event.
In the 'strongest tournament' the last matches are now known where are going to be staged in the next four years. After Turkey, in 2020-21 season the final game is going to be in Saint Petersburg (Russia). One year later Munich (Germany) will watch the best two teams that reaches the final game at Champions league, while at 2022-23 season London (England) is going to be the host for the final.
For this year Gdansk (Poland) will watch the unknown two finalists at Europa league in Energa stadium. Next year this honor is going to have Sevilla (Spain) at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
At the only European Cup event which is staging every year, the famous Windsor park in Belfast (Northern Ireland) in 2021 will see who is the best club: either the Champions or Europa league winner, after Estadio do Dragao (Porto, Portugal) is going to answer this question in August.

Disgusting racist comment on air

'This guy kills you in one-on-ones, if you go against him, you will fall. Either you have ten bananas to eat, that you give to him, or...'. A hideous sentence like this was spoken last Monday on television from Luciano Passirani at Qui studio a voi stadio show on Lombardia channel. Just to get out of this awkward situation, the presenter immediately rebuked the visiting 'expert' and said that the phrase was pronounced as a joke. Hearing this, the director of the programme Fabio Ravezzani has announced later that the 80-year-old will never be called again to comment on matches at the channel.
Player at the above sentence was referred towards one of the best Belgian strikers, and the new Inter signing who is only one month at the club Romelu Lukaku.

23 September 2019

Record amount of spending

Last Friday the European football organization has revealed some stunning numbers.
This summer the 80 clubs who are competing in Champions and Europa league have spend 3.98 billion euros on reinforcements. In comparison with 2018 this is 29 percent more money, or 19 percent increase from 2017. At almost half of the transfers there were players from 21 to 24 years old, while some clubs have purchased footballers older than 28 years of age which makes 7 percent.

Kicked out from this sport due to greed

The football days of the former president of Paraguayan football association and also an ex vice chairman of FIFA, Juan Angel Napout are over. Corruption is the charge from the world football organization, who last Thursday removed the 61-year-old from this sport for life. For three years (2012 - 2015) this 'businessman' has enjoyed receiving bribes in his roles at signing contracts with media companies and marketing rights for various tournaments in the South American confederation. Additional punishment, in terms of finance, is saying goodbye to 907.247 euros fine.

21 September 2019

Ex football manager arrested

For laundering money, deceiving and corruption in this sport, last Thursday the former manager of Anderlecht Herman van Holsbeeck was imprisoned in Belgium. During the search in his apartments in Liege, London and Monaco, one vessel, two suites, three luxury vehicles plus seven million euros were seized. The 64-year-old was detained shortly after Christophe Henrotay, who was also thrown in prison a day earlier, a footballing agent of famous stars nowadays.

Honoring the best with a statue

One of the best Swedish footballer will soon have a copy of himself in form of a statue. An idea of raising a monument to Zlatan Ibrahimovic came from the Swedish football association in 2015, and 4 years later this is going to stand between the old and new stadium in his native Malmo. It is going to be 2.7 metres high, weighing 500 kilograms, and will be revealed 10 October. Designer of this art work is the famous Peter Linde who has also done many public monuments throughout the country.

Illegal bookmaker shown out of nowhere

The Everton defender Yerry Mina had to say goodbye to 10.000 pounds. On Tuesday the football association punished the 24-year-old with 11.161 euros because he did an advertising campaign for the Colombian betting company Betjuego. Under the rules in England, promoting to these kind of companies is strictly forbidden to any player or official who is related to this sport.

Footballer has escaped jail term

The following story is true, it is not a movie script although it may look like it. How will it end up, it is up to the directors.
In October 2018 Arda Turan got involved in a fighting outside of a nightclub with a famous Turkish musician, where Berkay Sahin ended up with a broken nose from the brawl, and allegedly his wife was sexually harassed. For making it even worse, as a 'safety precaution' the footballer with a gun went to the hospital the next day to apologize, but obviously something went wrong, thus he fired from the weapon into the floor. Decision for these incidents the midfielder heard from the Istanbul court last Wednesday.
The 32-year-old has received 2 years, 8 months and 15 days in prison. But the jail term was deferred for a period of 5 years. He is accused for firing a gun for causing panic, illegal possession, intentional injury, while the harassment charge was rejected by the court. In this whole story (the strict) prosecutors may be dissatisfied with the case where they wanted even a double figure prison sentence for the player: 12.5 years. On top of that, he is losing some finance after all: has to pay his club Basaksehir 2.5 million Turkish lira (392.445 euros) fine.

Young player has passed away during tournament

A horrible tragedy happened four days ago in Haiti. After telling the doctors that he is not feeling very well, the Curacao goalkeeper Jarzinho Pieter suddenly died in his sleep at the hotel room (just one day before their scheduled duel). Officially, the team said afterwards that the 31-year-old has passed away from a heart attack.
Despite this terrible accident, the visitors had somehow find the strength to play the CONCACAF Nations league according to plan starting with a minute silence, which was done to the other games as well.
