Duels familiar from group stages

Yesterday night and today were performed the draw for the three international club competitions.

Beginning from this season there is a new format of play that is valid for all events: the group stages are completely abandoned / instead of 32 clubs 36 will participate in a single table / every club that would finish in position 01 to 08 is going to participate in round of 16, from 09 until 24 there will be play-off matches for that first knockout round (phase of 16) while those clubs who are placed from 25 or lower are going to say good bye to everyone (without the possibility of being transferred to other leagues), and each one will have various date of finishing (for this group part):

For Champions league and  Europa league every club is going to play 4 matches before home fans and 4 duels as guests. In total 144 matches awaits us, and completion is going to be 29 (for the first) or 30 January 2025 (for the second competition).

At Conference league will be played 108 duels because clubs will play 6 times with 3 different rivals (3 home and 3 away games). Everything has to end on 19 December.

The knockout phase starts from February of next year. With the draw, clubs have find out their opponents, and those can be seen on the website of the organization. Now their special software only have to tell us the whole schedule as well as kick off times, and that is going to be released on 31 August.

On phase 16 of the Copa Libertadores game between Sao Paulo and Nacional that was played on 23 August happened one serious incident that medical services needed to intervene.

After entering as a substitute at the start of second half, Juan Izquierdo Viana has collapsed on terrain 39 minutes later. It was thought that the visiting defender suffered a heart attack, the diagnosis if heart arrhythmia, however the 27-year-old is still in critical condition.

The fourth appearance of Nations league event from the North, Central America and Caribbean region is going to commence this fall. Financial boost for clubs

From 16 August on the African continent it began the new 2024-25 season of the Champions league and Confederation Cup with elimination rounds. Prior to the start the confederation have revealed how are going to encourage the clubs to perform better.

No matter of the tournament in which they compete, each one of them it will receive 50,000 dollars (45,480 euros) just from the preliminary phase.
