Additional information: after the wonderful and a perfect 10 out of 10 for the opening 30-minute-ceremony from the host, the first couple of refereeing errors have just arrived in a space of 160 seconds. Before the official countdown to one this match has already started, while the disallowed goal that was scored on 03 (02.40) from the 'guests' should not have been cancelled for offside by the video assistant system because the 'policemen from above' did not detect the player with the maroon shirt near the goal. Therefore the first hat trick of the competition was avoided to be registered on the opening night.

20 November 2022

Just love to provoke

On the October issue of the French satirical magazine Le Canard enchaine the hosts of the World Cup (that begins this Sunday) were practically belittled. Qatar players are basically drawn like terrorists, with (long) beards, machetes, guns, launching rockets, and with angry faces. To this disgusting and racist caricature many users of the social media has responded (each one on a negative way and none in positive), and its drawing of the article can be seen on the following video:

19 November 2022

Hefty fine for only one club

Feyenoord, who is competing at Europa league, had to pay a severe punishment because their supporters caused a real havoc at the last two games of the tournament. In total from its cash box were lessened with 106.000 euros by the European football organization three days ago. Divided on three points, the punishment looks like this:
- On 27 October in Graz, Dutch fans was pronounced guilty for using of pyrotechnics, throwing objects on the terrain, disturbing other spectators and destruction of inventory against Sturm. Apart from 50.000 euros penalty the team cannot sell visiting tickets for the next game.
- Seven nights later the opponent was Lazio playing at home, but this time its fans blocked the stairways. Hence the team had to deliver 26.000 euros.
- Because pyrotechnics again was the issue and object throwing on the same match, for this case an additional 30.000 euros fine was issued.
Consequently the whole north stand would have to be empty on their next home duel of the competition.

18 November 2022

Guilty, but remained on the competition

It looks like the saga between Chile and Ecuador is finally over, well... with minor consequences. The first country has accused the second of fielding an ineligible player throughout the elimination games of the World Cup 2022, and thus wanted to replace them at the finals which starts from this weekend.
Hence the last word has said the Court of arbitration for sport 10 days ago confirming that defender Byron Castillo had a right to play, but its football federation was sanctioned for the "falsified" passport. Also they have to pay a fine of 100.000 Swiss francs (101.016 euros), and lastly Ecuador will have to start with minus three points or would commence as tenth nation in the qualifiers for the World Cup 2026 event.

17 November 2022

There is always something happening for the first time

Starting from Sunday at the World Cup three interesting facts will debut or has debuted on the event concerning judges on the pitch.
- On the male games there are going to appear up to three lines and three main female referees: from France together with Rwanda.
- The third one is Yoshimi Yamashita of Japan who on 01 August became the first official 'woman in blue' in her own country.
- Also on 2022, the 36-year-old debuted at two club events for the first time: leading the Asian Champions league duel and in the national championship (J1 league).

16 November 2022

Knockout stages has been revealed

Eight days ago the European football organization has ended the club international tournaments for 2022 with the final draw that was performed for the first knockout phase. Therefore 24 duels have been formed for the three events that will begin from the second month of next year.

Games from the last 16 stage are going to be played on two months. In a real torture and anxiety: the first 90 minutes of the Champions league tournament are scheduled on 14, 15, 21, 22 February, while at 07, 08, 14, 15 March are the deciding dates. All of the eight matches below will begin from 21.00 CET.

Club Brugge - Benfica.
Liverpool - Real Madrid.
Milan - Tottenham.
Eintracht Frankfurt - Napoli.
Borussia Dortmund - Chelsea.
Inter - Porto.
PSG - Bayern.

Pairs from Europa league would be played only on one night: the first leg have to be on 16 and at 23 February are the second leg. Two times exist for this competition - 18.45 together with 21.00 CET where duels are going to be divided on four each. Winners of the eight groups would have a rest at round of 32: Arsenal, Betis, Fenerbahche, Ferencvarosh, Feyenoord, Freiburg, Real Sociedad and Union Saint-Gilloise.

Shakhtar Donetsk - Stade Rennais.
Ajax - Union Berlin.

On an exact copy from the predecessors, the Conference league will have the same kick-off times and dates of play. Here the only difference is that eight new teams have directly qualified for the round of 16, and those are AZ, Djurgarden, Bashakshehir, Nice, Sivasspor, Slovan, Villareal plus West ham. But for now next meeting are pairs of the last 32 phase with the following outcome:

Qarabag - Gent.
Trabzonspor - Basel.
Lazio - Cluj.
Bodo/Glimt - Lech.
Braga - Fiorentina.
AEK - Dnipro-1.
Sheriff - Partizan.
Ludogorets - Anderlecht.

15 November 2022

List of participants were finalized

Finally came 14 November when in was revealed the last piece of the puzzle: it was the date where 32 trainers had to give the final participants. In total 832 footballers was allowed to appear for the upcoming World Cup, however 1 player will be missing from the list.
Reason for that lies that one team has called up 25 footballers out of the permitting 26 (of course not all would run up on the terrain). Each one of them would be recognized with shirt numbers from 01 to 26 (not higher). Another interesting fact is that this same team, together with another one, are the only ones who have included four goalkeepers, while all the rest have registered of up to three.
You can read all names on the world football organisational website.

14 November 2022

Nearly one month of pure holiday ahead

From the last World Cup in 2018, it has passed four years, some months plus days. The wait is finally over and starting from next weekend we are going to enjoy edition number 22 of the most watched sporting event on earth.
Staging it for the first time at the Arab world and also debuts in different (winter) season, the 2022 competition are going to be divided in two phases: from 20 November until 02 December would be played the group stages, and out of 03 as far as 18 December are scheduled the four knockout phases (here is included the classification game as final). Video help would come from start

From 18 September 2018 the little monitors from above detected any irregularities that players from the three South American international major club competitions would do or beginning of the quarterfinal stage. Less than five years later this helping tool will be expanded and commence from start.
Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana together with Recopa Sudamericana out of 08 February 2023 are going to use the video assistant referee technology in all phases of the tournaments. After checking that there are technical and logistical conditions, this decision was brought on 11 October by the continental organization. Hoping to bring football justice on the pitch this request wanted some participants of the events where the consulting house Ernst and Young Argentina has confirmed the validity of the whole process.

Cruise ship number one has arrived at destination

For those spectators who cannot find their housing place on land, the World Cup host has provided a back up solution: to live and be surrounded by water on three giant ships which will pose as a temporary home.
One of them has appeared today on the Inland sea of Qatar, while the other two are on schedule to join in in the following days. Calling it 'World Europa', this gigantic trio belongs to Msc (Mediterranean shipping company) where is the biggest in its series of the firm and is completely built in France. Motors are running on liquefied natural gas.
It has 22 decks, 2.633 cabins that can take around 6.800 fans or can have a total capacity of up to 12.400 guests. At the cruise will work 2.100 crew members who are going to take care of the people where in their disposal are going to be 32 restaurants and bars, cultural and fun activities, water slides... Pleasure to be on this beauty costs from 695 euros per night.
The company and the welcoming country has signed an agreement in 2019 to deliver these ships only to cover up accommodation shortages where millions of fans are expected to watch and enjoy the biggest sporting event on earth that starts from next weekend.

Wants to change its name

One country which is a part of Great Britain wants to change its name, so that in the future would be known (and sound) to the public a little bit differently.
In international dictionary we all know that is Wales, however on 31 October the executive director Noel Mooney announced plans to alter their name to Cymru, which in local language means - Wales. The football association is being encouraged to do this shifting by another example when this summer Turkey officially has become Turkiye.
Because there was no time to change it for such short period for the upcoming World Cup it will be called by the name that is familiar nowadays, but after the event the replacement might be inevitable to come very soon.

It is good to be first

Out of 32 teams that are going to participate at the World Cup event one of them has announced the final list of players earlier than expected. At the beginning of the month Japan has released the list of the 26 participants who will run out to the pitch (not all of them would be seen).
Last month local organizers have said that this team would arrive first in Qatar on 07 November, but until now there is no confirmation that the East Asian team is already adapting to the new climate.

Could not finished the game in time so they lost the trophy

Dramatic scenes happened yesterday afternoon at one South American Super Cup final as the match ended prematurely because one team did not had enough players on the pitch to finish it.
For the Trofeo de Campeones (Champions trophy) it was competing the winner of the national championship (Boca juniors) and the victory team from the local Cup (Racing club). The number one club of the table received five red cards against its opponent who got two. Also, Facundo Tello has send off two more players plus one official from the bench. Nervousness began with the little boxing show at the stoppage time of the second half, and its completion came after the winning goal of Racing club in the second 15 minutes of additional time. Since majority of footballers were missing from the terrain, the result here did not count thus the champions of Argentina automatically has lost the opportunity to lift the title.

Stupidity never ends

In the following article just three states are going to be mentioned: one of them who was disqualified from the play off, the other who lost in the play off, while the third one is a team who will be in the finals. All of them participated for the eliminations games of the World Cup (to some point).
And for this event, Islamic Republic of Iran from the first round has tormented itself and at the end have succeeded to pass all impediments just to appear on the greatest show on earth that is going to start next weekend, thus in this case the team would be travelling through sporting merit. Now comes the football association of Ukraine which at the beginning of the week officially asked the world football organization to throw them out (only 20 nights before the start). Few days earlier the same idiotic statement repeated the director of Shakhtar Donetsk Serhii Palkin. The reason behind this absurd request is not of sporting nature, but something else: the Persian country is accused of supplying drones to Russia of who are using them for the invasion / special military operation on Ukraine.

Disgraceful behaviour

The European version of Nations league is over, and in the closing stages of the first part (group phase) some shameful scenes were noticed. Because of that one member association had to pay certain amount of punishment.
On the last Sunday of September Austria and Croatia entertained each other with the last duel. In that encounter the visiting fans have made some disturbances in terms of discriminatory chants and for the conduct had to pay 20.000 euros, plus the team is forbidden to sell tickets for the next home official match for at least 2.000 seats. Also on Wednesday the Balkan country was fined for two more violations by the European football organization which happened on the same match: using of pyrotechnics by the fans that is equal to 2.500 euros together with 20.625 euros for throwing objects onto the pitch.

Known some information about one regional championship

Edition number 17 of the Gold Cup 2023 tournament will be staged from 24 June until 16 July. Hence from now some dates together with the final place have been revealed.
On 28 October the North, Central American and the Caribbean confederation has announced that SoFi arena (which comes from the first two letters of 'Social finance' company) at the Los Angeles area is going to host the final match of the event. And tickets for this mentioned duel would go on sale on Monday, 07 November. But before the final something else have to happen.
Until now only four secured participants are known that have qualified for the major competition. Twelve more have to appear (all of them would come from another tournament), and when that is done it would be formed first and second preliminary rounds. Both of those elimination phases are going to be played between 16 and 20 June completing the final line-up just four nights prior to the official start of the regional championship. Who will play who at the preliminaries together with the Gold Cup groups would be known at the draw conducted on 14 April of next year.
