Apology means nothing when major finals are missed

In April 2016 Mamadou Sakho was indicted of taking higenamine, and therefore was given a one month suspension. Because of this the Liverpool player at that time, missed the Champions league final duel against Sevilla, while later did not made the French team for the European championship tournament of the same year.

Back then, the European football association has criticized the world anti-doping agency saying that this substance was not on the list of banned drugs (which they added it in 2017). Soon after, the player have sued the agency and demanded a 15.5 million euros in damages. Finally, an apology came in 2020 when last Wednesday they admitted its mistake for the falsely accused footballer and agreed to pay a certain amount as compensation.
