List of all clubs for 2017/18 season

In Europe the fifth month of every year is usually when all national championships are ending, but this year happens to be the first weekend in June, just one day after the closing stages for the best club from previous season. Most of them finished in May, however after 04 June we can summarize all teams that will entertain us for the next season. In total 236 clubs have the right to play in both European league tournaments and here are all the names (the following list is based under country ranking for 2016):

- Spain = 7 clubs:
Champions league: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla.
Europa league: Villarreal, Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao.

- Germany = 7 clubs:
Champions league: Bayern Munchen, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Hoffenheim.
Europa league: FC Koln, Hertha, Freiburg.

- England = 7 clubs:
Champions league: Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United.
Europa league: Arsenal, Everton.

- Italy = 6 clubs:
Champions league: Juventus, Roma, Napoli.
Europa league: Atalanta, Lazio, Milan.

- Portugal = 6 clubs:
Champions league: Benfica, Porto, Sporting CP.
Europa league: Vitoria Guimaraes, Braga, Maritimo Funchal.

- France = 6 clubs:

- Russia = 5 clubs:

The IMPORTANT thing to enter into the competitions are obtaining UEFA license, which unfortunately 5 teams failed to do so: Romanian casualties are 2 teams - the cup winner Voluntari and fifth place finisher from the regular season CFR Cluj, club who finished in second place at the regular season in Bulgaria - CSKA Sofia, Birkirkara from Malta who finished third and a team from Kosovo - Besa Peje which has won the national cup.

Each club has its own coefficient and therefore will compete in the qualifying round or group stage.

The draw for the first qualifying round of the new 2017/18 season in both European league tournaments will be on Monday, 19 June. The actual start is expecting to be on the last week of this month.
