Former African player wants to become president

FIFA World player of the year (now Ballon d'Or award) from 1995 George Weah announced that he will run for the president. The 49 year old ex-striker will not go for the FA position but for his native country - Liberia. This will be his second bid after he lost to Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in 2005 election. The three time African player of the year and ex-Liberia footballer is hoping to run the country next year when Sirleaf's final term will end. Weah, who is currently a senator in Montserrado region which also cover capital Monrovia, pledges to support vocational education, working on religious harmony and increase the national budget.
