For two years the rewards for best African footballers were skipped (because of the well known global health problem), but this year that would not be the case as the award will be back on a little bit uncommon month. At 2020 and 2021 prizes were not given, and for 2022 the ceremony for announcing the greatest players of the continent would be held on 21 July in Morocco.
This date was revealed by the confederation four days ago, where at the same time they also introduced a new award in the female section: interclubs women player of the year. Captains and trainers of all member associations together with selected journalists and officials from the organization will have the privilege to vote. Period for which performance of play is going to be under review for all players is from September 2021 until June 2022.
