Spanish withdrawal

Currently Europe is the only continental region which is without a president, and one week before the election process Angel Maria Villar withdrew its bid. The main reason for his announcement was not given after he shocked everyone with this news on Tuesday. Villar was favorite to win at the presidential UEFA election next week in Athens, but now that he is gone this title belongs to Aleksander Ceferin. The Slovenian lawyer and Michael van Praag from Holland are the only two contenders for the post. The winner will take over Michel Platini's mandate and will run the European football organization until 2019.
Villar was once fined by FIFA's ethic committee with 25.000 Swiss francs who refused to cooperate with the instigation of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
