Indonesia and South Korea today have lost to Qatar which will host the Asian Cup 2023. This tournament would have to entertain us at June - July period, but due to the extreme heat in the country it could be delayed for kick off near the end of next year. Originally People's Republic of China has been picked to welcome the 24 teams on its soil, but in May they gave up the rights because of the strict virus measures.
Qatar was one of the three candidates for hosting the next competition at 2027 (where immediately withdrawn the bid because they will welcome the best teams of the continent four years earlier), while from now on only two nations has remained shortlisted for the edition number 19: India and Saudi Arabia.
