Team places known for round five

Unlike Oceania zone this morning, CONCACAF region conducted its own draw for the qualification matches for 2018 World Cup in Russia.
For Oceania it was third and final round while for CONCACAF zone it was also the last round - but fifth. Better known as hexagonal tournament the draw this afternoon was to determined the positions of the teams for the fifth stage. As the penultimate round is still in play only Mexico have secured the right to play in the last round while 6 other teams are still battling over the remaining 5 places. Last two dates, 02 and 06 September, will give us better view of who will go through to the hexagonal event. Whichever teams finishes at the first two positions in the A, B, C groups in that order they will start the fifth round.

Position 1: C1
Position 2: B2
Position 3: A2
Position 4: B1
Position 5: A1 (Mexico)
Position 6: C2

Games will be played from November 2016 and will last until October 2017 with the following schedule:

Day 01: C1 - Mexico, A2 - B2, C2 - B1.
Day 02: B1 - C1, B2 - Mexico, A2 - C2.
Day 03: C1 - A2, C2 - B2, Mexico - B1.
Day 04: B2 - C1, A2 - B1, C2 - Mexico.
Day 05: C1 - C2, B1 - B2, Mexico - A2.
Day 06: Mexico - C1, B1 - C2, B2 - A2.
Day 07: C1 - B1, C2 - A2, Mexico - B2.
Day 08: A2 - C1, B2 - C2, B1 - Mexico.
Day 09: C1 - B2, B1 - A2, Mexico - C2.
Day 10: C2 - C1, B2 - B1, A2 - Mexico (all games from this day will begin at the same time).

From the hexagonal tournament only the top three teams will qualify for the finals in Russia while fourth placed team will have another chance, in a home and away match, to reach the World Cup by playing an intercontinental play off with the Asian representative in November 2017.
