What is Zabivaka?

On the last working day of this week, Russian fans have chosen the mascot which will represent 2018 World cup in their own country. The campaign started nearly at the end of September when three candidates were offered between a cat, a tiger and a wolf. Results were published on a live televised show on public Channel 1: the cat picked up 20 percent of votes, followed by the tiger with 27 percent. As the official mascot of the World cup in Russia, football supporters around the world in two years time will meet the wolf gathering 53 percent of the votes.
We think that this wolf will not be scary and that fans will be friendly with him, calling him by his first name - Zabivaka.
