Extension of the extension

Apart from all elimination games that we are having from every confederation, how would you like to see a new World Cup where qualifiers are playing IN the final tournament?
That is exactly what Gianni Infantino have in mind (but it will be very very difficult for that to be achieved). Everybody knew that FIFA president is pushing for 40 teams to be at the finals, but now he is going one step further by saying 48. His plan is the following: 'The idea is that 16 teams would qualify directly to the group stage and the other 32 would play in a preliminary phase, in the country where the World cup is being played - they would play for the remaining 16 places. It means we continue with a normal World cup for 32 teams, but 48 go to the party'. In short: for the World cup we will have elimination matches which will last 2 years plus qualifying matches for the same event plus final 32 games.
This silly idea surely would not pass for many years to come, although it will be debated, but from now European teams strongly objects this matter. Critics are saying that they are facing trouble even with 40 teams and do not know how the structure will turn out to be.
