In 2021 there will be no visiting teams participating at the oldest international football tournament in the world. Edition number 47 of Copa America had to commence last year, but because of the pandemic was brought 12 months forward. And for the same reason six days ago Australia and Qatar had to withdraw from the competition who will start on June and July period. These two Asian teams have to play qualifying games for World Cup in the sixth month, after many of them were postponed from the region that had to commence at the end of March.
As things stands now, the South American championship will kick off with all 10 countries within the continent, which did not happen since 1993 (when guests began to be invited from other confederations). Organizers are desperately trying to find replacements, however time is really short to bring new ones.
