No evidence of buying the 2006 World Cup

On Friday, the much anticipated report was published on the controversial 2006 World Cup, which was staged in Germany. A private law company hired by German FA (DFB) found no conclusive evidence of buying Asian votes for the German bidders. However, the report also said that it cannot be ruled out that this has taken place.
Figure of 10 million Swiss francs (roughly 6.7 million euros) opened a Swiss account in August 2002 by Robert Louis-Dreyfus. Many known DFB officials are connected to this amount, among them the legendary Franz Beckenbauer who was in the organizing committee, had unknown money transfers. After that, this sum has been transferred to a Qatar company belonged to disgraced ex-FIFA official Mohamed bin Hammam. According to the report he denied receiving the money which were 'clearly' for the purpose for TV and marketing rights for the 2006 Asian Games. The mentioned figure is also believed to be tax evasion from the German authorities.
The scandal between DFB and how Germany won the right to host the World Cup broke out last October published in the 'Spiegel' magazine. Germany won the right of hosting the tournament by beating South Africa 12:11.
