Ex-CONMEBOL president struck plea bargain

Uruguayan Eugenio Figueredo, former CONMEBOL president has agreed to hand over more than 9 million euros in stocks and property in a deal to reduce his punishment in the FIFA corruption scandal. The 83 year old agreed to cooperate with Uruguayan police.
Former FIFA vice president was arrested in Zurich last May as part of sweeping investigation into corruption at the worlds football governing body. He faces charges of money laundering and taking bribe to sell media and marketing rights for football tournaments and games across the Americas. Figueredo was extradited to his own country in December. Uruguayan prosecutor Juan Gomez said that 'he had reached a deal that includes handing over 12 or 13 properties with bank accounts and rights to shares he had invested in'.
More than 40 people and entities have been charged since May in the biggest FIFA corruption to date.
