First match fixing case unveiled in Holland

Dutch FA (KNVB) has confirmed the first rigged game in the Eredivisie. The disputable game was from 09 August 2009 between Utrecht and Willem II Tilburg. The KNVB investigation centers to Ibrahim Kargbo, who played for Willem II from 2006 until 2010. The Sierra Leone international together with the 2009 club captain Michael Aerts and a third unidentified player have been promised to throw out the game against Utrecht in return of 25.000 euros each. Willem II had to loose with more than two goal difference, but the 'incompetent' Kargbo failed at the mission as his team lost 'only' 1:0. This 'request' was sent by Singaporean convicted match fixer Wilson Raj Perumal. Among other things KNVB operational director Gijs de Jong stated that the football in that country 'lost its innocence' and they will continue to 'fight against this plague'.
Kargbo has already been suspended from Sierra Leone squad for alleged match fixing. In 2014, as its national captain, he was indefinitely suspended by his country over allegations surrounding a FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa in 2008 that ended goalless. On the other hand, the 50 year old Perumal participated in more than 100 manipulated games around the world and has been jailed in Finland and Hungary.
