'Surprise' player of the month winner in BBVA

How many times have you heard of the name Lionel Messi? This 'new' football name nowadays who is promising to score goals in almost every game and be the best world player in the years ahead. Or was it before...as we are already puzzled.
Well exactly the above mentioned present name, nor junior nor senior, has received an unusual prize today. He was named the best player of the month for January in the BBVA's La Liga...for the first time ever! 'Leo Messi, elegido Mejor Jugador de la Liga BBVA en el mes de enero' was stated on La Liga's twitter account. Since the introduction of the awards in September 2013, 17 different players entered the list like, Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin and striker Antione Griezmann, Cela Vigo's striker Nolito who all have won it twice - except the Argentinian captain. 'While it may be almost impossible to believe, Messi has finally been named the La Liga player of the month' commented by Barcelona's website on Friday.
La Liga's player of the month award is voted by the writers at the league's official website.
