Fined for overcrowding and poor security

By the well known recipe - more fans the better for its national team, Nigeria now have to pay for that saying. In an official match from the African Cup of Nations qualifier on 25 March, at the 16.000 capacity there were more than 40.000 supporters at the Ahmadu Bello stadium in the city of Kaduna where Nigeria played Egypt. Local government opened the doors to the venue where fans watched that game for free giving the Super Eagles plenty of support as everyone was looking for available space near the athletic track or even climb onto the floodlight scaffolding while the stands was fully packed.
For this serious omission CAF announced from the disciplinary meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa a fine, threatening even severe sanctions if this was repeated. Nigeria has to pay 5.000 dollars (995.376 Naira ; 4.384 euros).
The same amount has to pay Egypt as well (44.289 pound). They are sanctioned because four days later in the return leg, there was excessive use of lasers from the Pharaohs supporters in Alexandria.
