UEFA awaits new president

From smiling to conformation. After the testimony of his good friend Sepp Blatter last week, where he was happy enough that will be cleared of any wrongdoings, the Court of Arbitration for Sport have announced today quite the opposite. And instead of getting a lifetime punishment his ban got cut out (again) for two more years. Now from six to four years Michel Platini cannot appear anywhere in football. And wherever is a ban there is also a fine, reduced one this time - from 80.000 to 60.000 Swiss francs (54.081 euros). The final verdict today is a big blow to the 60 year old Frenchman who wanted to continue to be bossing around in UEFA for four more years, but...instead of doing that he has to resign from its post.
Now the European football governing body is in search of new president. It is announced that they will meet in Basel on 18 May, the day of the Europa League final, to discuss further steps. And favorites to win are: interim UEFA president Angel Maria Villar and general secretary Theodore Theodoridis. Presidents of Dutch and Italian FAs Michael van Praag and Giancarlo Abete are also in the list.
