Financial motivation

Today Copa America organizers announced prize money for next month's anniversary tournament. Total of 21.5 million dollars (19 million euros) will be distributed among the best eight teams and of course the winner will collect a nice amount.
Each of the quarterfinal teams will receive 1.5 million dollars (1.3 million euros) while fourth placed team will earn 1 million more - 2.5 million dollars (2.2 million euros). There is not much difference between second and third place team as bronze medalist will be rich for 3 million dollars (2.65 million euros) while the runner-up of the competition will net 3.5 million (3.1 million euros). And finally the winner of this 100 year old tournament will get handsome 6.5 million dollars (5.7 million euros).
