FFF decides to support Infantino for president

Instead of backing their own countryman Jerome Champagne, French FA (FFF) decided to support Gianni Infantino for FIFA president. The 45 year old is banking on votes from a big majority of the 53 UEFA members, with France joining Germany in endorsing Platini's right hand man of more than six years. FFF president Noel le Graet said 11 out of the 12 members of its executive committee agreed to support Infantino. In a statement le Graet said that 'Gianni has all the qualities required to succeed including experience, talent, strength at work and beliefs'. The Swiss, who joined the race in October, has received public pledges of support this week from all 10 members from the CONMEBOL region and seven member regional grouping in Central America (UNCAF).
Reportedly le Graet and Champagne involved in a spat this week during a meeting in a restaurant after the FFF president told the candidate he would support Infantino. Champagne said le Graet insulted him after he made clear he would contest the president's choice. According to French daily newspaper 'Le Parisien', le Graet then use an expletive before leaving the table and paying the bill.
Even his main rival, current AFC president sheikh Salman acknowledges the threat. One of those two contenders will be the new FIFA president from 26 February.
