FIFA Balon d'Or without Blatter's family

Despite receiving invitations for the event, Sepp Blatter's family will not attend the FIFA Balon d'Or. As Blatter was kicked out from the sport and got an 8 year ban from all football activities, 79-year old Swiss is not allowed to attend this Gala ceremony which will take place on Monday 11 January (probably to avoid further punishments from FIFA). Swiss tabloid 'Blick' reported on Friday that Blatter's family - his son in law, daughter, granddaughter and his 2 brothers - will not travel to Zurich to attend the ceremony despite already received invitations. This newspaper also said that 'all of them have canceled the trip out of the solidarity and support with their father'.
Starting from 2010, FIFA Balon d'Or is an annual football award given to male player considered for best performance from the previous calendar year and it is awarded based on votes from national team coaches, captains and journalists from around the world. Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi are finalists for the 2015 prize. Leader is Argentinian star Lionel Messi with 3 trophies against Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo who has 2.
