UEFA has no intention to replace Platini...yet

UEFA will not replace its current president Michel Platini despite the Frenchman is banned from any football activities for 8 years. European football governing body's executive committee in a statement has said that 'there will be no UEFA presidential election scheduled, until the sports justice appeal bodies, including potentially the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) have taken a decision regarding Michel Platini's suspension'. They also hope that the name will be 'cleared and that he can return to European football family as soon as possible'. It was also decided that the UEFA congress, which could elect a new president, will be held in May in Budapest.
The 60-year old president was suspended by FIFA's executive committee in December together with Sepp Blatter. That same executive committee want these two to be life banned from football following corruption scandals withing the organization. Both are denying any wrong doing in the process. Platini earlier has said that he would appeal his punishment at the Lausanne based CAS.
