Presidential candidate asked to 'explain' himself

With the election almost a month ahead of us one of its candidates could be already in serious trouble. Urged by his own national governing body, South African businessman Tokyo Sexwale is asked explaining his lucklustre election campaign as he bids to take over corruption-plagued FIFA.
The only African candidate bidding for the job has made little impact ahead of the vote on 26 February triggering concern from the South African FA (SAFA). SAFA has asked Sexwale to explain why his campaign has had little media exposure. Some national executive committee members, which is the highest decision making body in the association, were not happy how the former politician has gone about his business and feel he should withdraw from the race to save face. They feel he has no chance of winning. SAFA, which endorsed Sexwale's bid, said at the weekend that it wanted to speak to him ahead of a key CAF (Confederation of African Football) meeting in Kigali on 05 February, although he is out of the country. Sexwale will be asked to shed more light on his campaign, including what he has done to date and what his future plans are. SAFA chief executive Dennis Mumble said the leadership wanted to engage Sexwale for an update.
The 62 year old became millionaire business tycoon in the years after apartheid fell, and was on the team that won South Africa the right to host the 2010 World Cup. He also serves on FIFA's anti-racism and anti-discrimination committee.
