FIFA's EU debate cancelled

A planned debate in the European Parliament this week, was cancelled on Monday after Prince Ali and South Africa's businessman Tokyo Sexwale pulled out. The Prince was the first to cancel his participation which was scheduled on Wednesday. Ali has said to the EU lawmaker and one of the organizers of the hearing Marc Tarabella, that it could breach FIFA campaign rules. Sexwale later followed the suit. From the start Infantino and sheikh Salman had not been expected to participate in the debate, leaving just Frenchman Champagne willing to appear before EU lawmakers in Brussels. Earlier Prince Ali made formal complaint to FIFA's election committee on the basis of political interference in a letter to Tarabella, which later the EU lawmaker rejected the argument.
The football governing body has been shaken by corruption allegations and criminal investigations. This meeting was a perfect opportunity to know what kind of plans have all five candidates for FIFA, before the election date - 26 February.
