CONMEBOL has new president

Alejandro Dominguez of Paraguay is the new president of the South American football governing body. He was the only candidate for the post and receive 10 out of 10 votes from the CONMEBOL member federations. Wilmar Valdez from Uruguay withdrew his candidacy before the voting began. Dominguez steps into the position after the last 3 presidents were arrested on corruption scandals surrounding FIFA.
The last president Juan Angel Napout of Paraguay has been extradited to the USA. Eugenio Figueredo of Uruguay faces charges in his own country while Nicolas Leoz of Paraguay is under house arrest.
