Five candidates confirmed for FIFA elections

The International Football Federation has announced today the names of five candidates for the presidency of the organization. In a statement release Tuesday it was confirmed the candidacy of Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Gianni Infantino, Tokyo Sexwale and Jerome Champagne. The five candidates are bidding to replace Sepp Blatter who from 21 December is banned for 8 years. Michel Platini was the early favorite to succeed the Swiss, but he was also suspended by the ethical committee due to disloyal payment. Both men deny the charges. President of the Asian Football Confederation sheikh Salman and UEFA'S general secretsry Gianni Infantino are viewed as the frontrunners winning the race.
The new FIFA president will be known 26 February in Zurich.
