Romanian champions refuse to release players

Some of the best players would not attend Romanian winter training camp and unofficial friendly games in a blow to the country's preparation for this year's European Championship. Steaua Bucharest are refusing to release six players that national coach Anghel Iordanescu want them to be in his team for the camp which starts on Monday in Turkey. As the following friendly games are not on FIFA's calendar from 6 players that Iordanescu want, Steaua are not willing to let more than 3. Goalekeeper Florin Nita, defenders Paul Papp and Alin Tosca, midfielders Alex Chipciu, Adrian Popa and Mihai Pintilii should all be in Turkey today, after national coach has said that this is not negotiable. 'Either all or none' and 'we have to respect the national team who will compete the EURO' are some of his statements.
On the other hand Steaua's decision trigger furious reaction from other clubs. One of them is the president of Pandurii Targu-Jiu, Narcis Raducan who is threatening to recall his players back from Turkey, if all 6 Steaua players do not turn up in the camp.
